But what if some long-established assumptions deserve a closer look?
At the upcoming @FIAT/IFTA Preservation & Migration Seminar 2026, NOA will present the results of a recent field test conducted in close cooperation with ABK Stuttgart (the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart), Germany, involving experienced archive audio engineers as well as participants without any professional audio preservation or engineering backgrounds. Participants adjusted azimuth using different approaches: by ear, with spectral tools, and with NOA's AzimuthGuide - an entirely new methodology.
The findings raise important questions about current practices and may offer a fresh perspective on audio preservation and digitization.
Join Dr. Nadja Wallaszkovits and Jean-Christophe Kummer team on Thursday, 4 June at 16:25 for:
"Azimuth Adjustments – Will we do all our collections again? New methodologies and improvements shared from the field"
If you are involved in audio preservation, digitization workflows, quality control, or archival strategy, this session will provide valuable insights into a topic that directly impacts the quality and authenticity of preserved audio collections.
