Outlook on possibilities of financing of media archive initiatives in development countries via NOA Archive

The austrian government has approved financing means via soft loans with a high grant amount for media archive systems from NOA.

NOA has - at the Austrian export bank of finance - managed to establish an understanding of what digitized content represents: It is as equally viable as a water purification plant or a hospital.

Digitized archive material serves to support and extend socialization, historical understanding, and democratic development and is therefore eligible for export financing.

Archiving systems can therefore be financed over 20+ years to create dematerialized content, which is the new valuable asset.

Typically emerging markets can be helped here to develop sustainable archiving strategies with NOA tools. A changing list of eligible countries will be presented at the conference besides successfully completed projects in development countries such as

• Mongolia
• Vietnam
• Mexico
• Sudan
