Process Framework

For digitization of audio and SD-video carriers, an appropriate process framework is chosen depending on a project's size and requirements. Due to scalability of NOA's solutions, it is possible to start with single ingest stations running within the Pico framework and gradually upgrading to the jobDB or mediARC framework.

Following approximations may be considered as a guideline on which framework best suits a project:

Guidelines Recommended Framework

Single-station ingest system "in the corner":

  • Several hundred to thousand carriers
  • 1:1 transfers
  • On demand transfers
  • Main focus on transfer quality control
  • Single, individual workstations
NOA Pico

Industrial digitization facility:

  • Large-scale digitization of entire archives (typically 50,000+ carriers) with high daily throughput 
  • Parallel transfers and multi seated projects
  • Comprehensive quality control beyond transfer QC
  • Labour separated workflows
  • Client-server environment

NOA jobDB

Archive Asset Management:

Optionally, if required:

  • Large-scale digitization of entire archives with high daily throughput
  • Parallel transfers and multi seated projects
  • Comprehensive quality control beyond transfer QC
  • Labour separated workflows

..and/or if working with existing archival holdings:

  • Detailed annotation of descriptive metadata
  • Order workflows (e.g. from the archive to editors)
  • Sustainable archiving of media and metadata for several decades
